Problem Based Learning and Digital Literacy

Students will be assessed using the following method:

  1. As students work they will be observed by their peers and the teacher.  Students will be expected to fill out a daily log sheet that will document how each person in the group uses his or her time.
  1. Students will engage in conversations about what they have learned and how they have decided to approach the problem.  These conversations will be the second step of the assessment process, allowing for redirection and mentoring when necessary.
  1. Students will use what they have learned to create a product.  This product or series of products will be assessed based on their originality, creativity, how well they match the problem itself, and their clarity in answering the problem statement developed by the class.  Students must be able to identify what they themselves have done as a part of the final product.
  1. Finally, students will reflect on their learning and self assess their own work.  They will also create goals for future learning.

The Curriculum Expectations addressed by each problem vary, but cover a wide variety of Literacy (specifically Media Literacy), Science, Social Science & Geography and Arts expectations.
